ABOUT THE SCATTERDICE PODCAST

Our Background

The Scattered Guys are a mix of hobbyists and tabletop enthusiasts who have developed lifelong friendships over their shared interest in tabletop gaming. Founders Matt, Stephen, and Curtis reconnected after several years spent distant and decided to start a podcast to more regularly stay connected. Bringing Mike and Reed on board truly made us the Scattered Guys with representatives in all three US Time Zones and Hawaii. The Guys are hoping to take their model and turn it into a way for hobbyists and gamers everywhere to build a connected community regardless of physical separation.

The Scattered Guys are built on shared love of all things Warhammer 40,000. While we may sometimes be critical of Games Workshop, at the end of the day we are all together because of the great game and lore they have built. From lore and painting to competitive tournaments, the Scattered Guys are here to share their wide perspective on the latest and greatest in the Warhammer 40,000 world.

Matt

Hey I'm Matt! I initially got into the Hobby back in the middle of 4th edition where I learned to love the hobby. I've had almost every army in the range and as a habitual army buyer and then seller its been hard for me to stick with any one faction. I spent most of 4th and 5th editions playing Space Marines and Imperial Guard. After coming back into the hobby at the end of 7th edition I once again picked up Space Marines. I went from chapter to chapter until I ended up where I am now....with a whole bunch of Imperial Knights and Xenos! As one of the founders of ScattereDice I'm dedicated to making this podcast and its attachments core foundational pieces of the community we hope to grow! Thank you for the support and keep rolling those dice!

Stephen -

Hello! I’m Stephen and I love Wahammer 40,000. I have had a warhammer models since I was in kindergarten when my brother and I were introduced to the game by a British friend. Shortly after we had the third edition 40k starter set and a box of Khorne Berzekers. Over the years my brother and I would collect, build, paint, and play with them as glorified action figures. I alway thought that the models looked cool and were fun to put together. I had a limited idea of the lore until middle school.

Once Matt and Curtis and I met each other in middle school the hobby really took off for me! After corrupting/converting Matt and Curt to sell their souls to the Emperor and join the pact of plastic crack, my enthusiasm for the lore, painting, and gaming grew. Having peers that were interested in the hobby really made everything worth doing, and this became clear to me once we all moved away from each other.

After moving away I didn’t engage in the hobby in a meaningful way all the way through high school and college. As many people have experienced in their own hobby journeys, priorities changed and peers showed little interest. There was the exception of Matt visiting over some summer breaks and us deciding to buy Warhammer Fantasy models on two separate occasions. Both times ultimately were short lived hobby sparks in a long time of inactivity. But that all changed when the fellowship reunited.

Lo and beholds Matt, Curtis, and I ended up moving close to each other! This marked a real hobby renaissance for the three of us. We were able to motivate ourselves to dust off old minis, but new minis, and play games. It was this camaraderie that always made 40K special to me and kept me interested in the hobby. I’m happy to say that despite all being scattered across the world again that drive has remained. Indeed, this podcast keeps us engaged and motivated. We all hope that listening to our podcast and reading our content will inspire you to find community that supports your interests.

Mike - "Dirty Mike" - Chaos Enthusiast

Hey everyone! I'm Mike and I've been playing 40k since 2017ish, the end of 7th Edition. My friend Peter taught me the rules and helped build my love of the story and lore behind the units. I met Matt shortly after through work and he very carefully floated the phrase Warhammer when he learned I was a fellow nerd. I jumped right in and he quickly brought me into the fold. For the first time, I was stepping into actual hobbying rather than just rules and lore. Thankfully this coincided with the 8th Edition release and new Death Guard. Once I settled on Death Guard, I jumped right in and began my collection. The rest is history! I'm glad that I had the luck to meet Matt and develop lifelong friendships through 40k. When the Guys asked me to join the team, I jumped on board as quickly as possible! I'm hoping others enjoy our somewhat unique perspective into the hobby, lore, and building community around throwing dice!

Reed - Average Greater Good Enjoyer

Playing and painting Tau since the tail-end of 7 th edition, I love a good mech-suit and powerful railgun.
I’ve also dabbled into knights, Imperial Guard, Admech, Chaos Space Marines, and Adeptus Custodies
throughout my time in the hobby. I terrorized our local friend group for over a year with my gun-line
during 8 th edition which led me to start playing more competitively in local RTTs in my area. I usually play
once a month for local RTTs and follow the overall competitive scene. I also enjoy playing the Blood
Bowl spin off, Blitz Bowl with my wife in our free time I play Lizardmen and she plays the Snotlings.
